Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has paid tribute to teammate Jordan Ayew.
Ayew notched his seventh goal of the season in Palace’s 1-0 derby win over rivals Brighton on Saturday.
The striker has scored important goals for the Eagles, including a strike to help Palace to a rare win at Manchester United.
Dann believes Ayew’s graft and adaptability make the Ghana international a key component in Roy Hodgson’s starting XI.
“He’s scored some important goals for us, we haven’t scored that many and he has some vital ones,” Dann said to Palace TV.
“I think it’s more his all-round performance he gives week in week out, the energy, the work rate, the quality.
“He’s played a lot of games up front, he’s played right wing, left wing. You can put him anywhere as he’s got a lot of quality and he deserved that [Brighton] goal.”
Dann, who is back in the heart of defence due to James Tomkins being injured , says he’s keen on getting among the goals himself.
He added: “I think I’ve got a goal brewing. I always feel like I’m going to get on the end of a set-piece, whether it’s to make a chance for someone else or get a header on target myself. It’s something I always try and do.
“There were a couple of times I got my head on the end of things [against Brighton] and nearly scored last week. So hopefully next game I can keep it going and put one in the back of the net.”
