Crystal Palace went down to a 2-0 defeat at home to Premier League champions Manchester City.
City ran out comfortable winners to inflict a first home league loss on the Eagles this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side started in confident fashion but had to wait until the 39th minute to score as Gabriel Jesus headed in Bernardo Silva’s cross in off the post.
Two minutes later, David Silva’s volley off Raheen Sterling’s chip beyond the recalled Wayne Hennessey put City in the driving seat.
Hennessey made some inspired blocks to deny Bernardo Silva and Jesus, while City had a penalty appeal turned down after Kevin de Bruyne clashed with Wilfried Zaha.
The closest Palace came to scoring was when substitute Christian Benteke’s header was pushed onto the bar by keeper Ederson.
The Brazilian also pulled off an incredible block to stop Zaha’s powerful effort.
