Crystal Palace defender Ryan Inniss has been charged with violent conduct by the FA.

The 24-year-old Academy product allegedly bit a West Ham United player while on loan at League Two club Newport County.

He was shown a straight red during stoppage time of Tuesday’s EFL Trophy tie against West Ham U23s for an off-the-ball incident with Reece Hannam.

The FA has since reviewed the case and charged him with breaching FA Rule E3(1) which dictates that: “A Participant shall at all times act in the best interests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour”.

Inniss, who has one senior Palace appearance and played for nine clubs on loan, has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge.
