McArthur is wary of a wounded Wolves after their Europa defeat

Midfielder James McArthur has warned his Crystal Palace teammates to be wary of an angry Wolves.

The Midlands outfit lost 1-0 to Sporting Braga in their Europa League Group opener on Thursday night.

It was their third successive defeat after Premier League losses against Everton and Chelsea.

Palace meet Wolves at Selhurst Park this Sunday and McArthur knows they will be desperate to get back to winning form.

“As a footballer, whenever you get a defeat you want to bounce back straight away,” he told Premier League Productions.

“They obviously got a result on Thursday that they won’t be happy with so they will be looking to bounce back. They are going to be dangerous.”

When asked about fatigue in the Wolves side having played 12 times to Palace’s five, McArthur said: “You could say that they’d be a lot fitter than us – there’s always a flip side to it.

“We know if we play anyone, no matter if they play a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, it’s going to be tough. We need to be on our game, do what we have been doing. And if we do that, we’re confident we can get the win.”

The former Scotland international believes Palace too will recover from their 4-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League last weekend.

He added: “We know what we are, we know we are a good side that can beat anybody on their day with any player or without any player.

“It’s about us focusing on the next game. We want all our best players playing and hopefully get a result against Wolves.”

Striker Connor Wickham is Palace’s only injury concern, while midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has recovered from a twisted ankle.
