Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy says he is starting to enjoy his football again after an injury nightmare.
McCarthy, who joined Palace from Everton for a reported £3m in August, suffered knee and hamstring trouble and also broke his leg with the Toffees.
The 29-year-old is back fit again to become a key part of Roy Hodgson’s Palace midfield and admits he couldn’t be happier.
“It’s been really good to be playing again to be honest,” McCarthy said to Premier League Productions.
“It’s been a tough couple of years, by not playing as much as I’d like and getting the injuries. Then coming back from a hamstring [strain] and getting a run of games and then breaking my leg.
“But it’s good to work under [Roy Hodgson], we’ve got a good bunch of boys here and it’s a good place to be.
“I enjoy coming in to work, I enjoy training. And as you can see, we’ve got a real group that’s together in making sure we kick on this season.
“James [McArthur] has always talked the club up. There were a lot of times when I was going to come on loan but James always spoke to me and we always kept in contact since the Hamilton days. I’m really enjoying it here and it’s good to be back playing again.”
