Crystal Palace skipper Luka Milivojevic has told critics: forget the stats we’re having an “amazing season.”

Palace are the second lowest scorers in the Premier League with 26 and have netted just one more than bottom club Norwich.

Despite the team now safe from the drop, some supporters have complained about manager Roy Hodgson’s defensive style which has yielded so few goals.

Milivojevic notched 12 strikes last term and only has two this season, but the 29-year-old says it’s no cause for concern.

“For me I think it is a good season, third season in a row and totally different from my first and second season,” he told Palace TV.

“Most people will judge you from the stats and when they see goals: first season I scored 10, second season I scored 12 but this season I scored just two.

“If you see this, you will say that this season is very bad. But in my opinion, I think I did well from the beginning and I always try to do my best and most of my goals are from penalties. But of course the most important is the team.”

The Serbian international hopes the campaign resumes after this hiatus so the Eagles can end up with a top-half finish.

“For me personally I have had a good season but for us as a collective group, we are having an amazing season,” he added.

“We are in a very good position with a lot of points and we have nine games in front of us where we can take a lot of points and finish high up the league. At the moment we are doing very well.”
