Palace make light work of United to continue good start

Man Utd 1-3 Palace

A Wilfried Zaha double helped Crystal Palace secure a 3-1 win at Manchester United.

It was Palace’s first back-to-back victory at Old Trafford and the first time they’ve won their opening two Premier League fixtures.

Andros Townsend shocked United by slotting home Jeffrey Schlupp’s cross left-wing cross after seven minutes.

There was drama in the 74th minute after referee Martin Atkinson used the VAR TV monitor to award Palace a penalty after judging Victor Lindelof to have handled inside his own area.

David de Gea saved Jordan Ayew’s spot-kick but Atkinson ordered a retake because VAR said the keeper had moved off his line. Zaha stepped up for the second effort and he blasted into the net for 2-0.

Debutante Donny van de Beek pulled one back for United 10 minutes from the end.

However, Zaha’s low finish on 85 minutes made it 3-1 as the Eagles claimed a deserved win against Zaha’s former club.
