Report: Palace keeping tabs on two midfielders

Taras Stepanenko and Ozan Tufan

Crystal Palace are looking to add further competition to their squad of midfielders.

They are targeting Taras Stepanenko after being informed that he will be sold by Shakhtar Donetsk in January.

The Eagles were close to landing the Ukrainian international for £8million in the summer and are ready to go back in for him.

Agent Barry O’Connor said in the Sun: “There has been plenty of interest, good, experienced players will always attract attention.”

Stepanenko, 30, is a midfield hard man and scored 13 goals in 179 appearances since joining Shakhtar in 2010.

Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan is also interesting Palace after they missed out on him last year.

Fortuna Dusseldorf and Saint Etienne are also said to be keen on the Turkey international, according to Fotospor.

The 24-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season which means he can talk to clubs in the next transfer window.
