Report: Palace most keen to land midfielder Bentaleb

Nabil Bentaleb

Crystal Palace are the club most interested in signing Schalke midfielder Nabil Bentaleb.

The Eagles and Premier League rivals Everton are among those eager to land the former Tottenham star.

Foot Mercato reports the Algerian has “no real future” at Schalke having yet to make an appearance this season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are demanding a large loan fee for right-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to the Sun.

Southampton are also said to be interested in borrowing the 22-year-old for the rest of the campaign.

Wilfried Zaha looks set to remain with the Eagles for this transfer window at least, despite signing with super-agent Pini Zahavi.

Everton director of football Marcel Brands has admitted they were wasting their time chasing Zaha last summer as they couldn’t afford the £80m fee.

“If you see our numbers then you know it is not realistic for Everton to buy a player for £60m, £70m, £80m,” he said.

“So that kind of expectation is sometimes a different kind of expectation for fans and it is not realistic and we have to manage that.”
