Zaha: I’ll always do my best out of respect for this club

Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha is feeling the love at Crystal Palace again after his transfer saga over the summer.

Palace rejected Arsenal’s £40m offer for the 26-year-old after he handed in a request to leave Selhurst Park.

Despite the failed move to the Champions League chasing outfit, Zaha has since vowed to do his best for the Eagles because he loves the club so much.

“I had to just tell myself I respect my team too much, I respect the club, respect my manager, I’m not going to sulk like a kid as it only hinders my future. So get my head down and work, that’s it,” he told Sky Sports.

“Things don’t always go your way in life, you can’t sulk your whole life and I’m not in the worst position either. I’m at a club that loves me, I’m playing week in week out, with teammates that love me, with fans that love me.

“And a manager that is prepared to put his arm around me and listen to me when I speak. I’ve just got to work hard and who knows what the future will bring.

“The way that I play week in week out, [the fans] know that I love the club. And I love them back because they have supported me through everything. I feel like this club is a family. The same love they show me is the same love I show back. That’s the understanding we have.

“They understood where I came from with whatever happened in the summer. I have to put my head down, work for the club and show the fans that I’m 100 per cent committed to the cause as a Crystal Palace player.”
